Les Wieder

writer/producer

Les Wieder has been a successful, theatre producer, director and writer for over 40 years.  During that time has won several awards for his directing and playwrighting including the NAACP Drama Award for his play, “Sojourner: The Story of Sojourner Truth”, and is also a recipient of the NAACP President’s Award for his work in the theatre. In 1984 he formed Lazlo Vidor Productions. Since that time the company has been involved in producing live theatre, commercials, documentaries and music videos.

In May of 2020 his short play, “The Virus Play”, was selected by the Dramatists Guild for a zoom production as part of a series the Guild produced about the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.  Also, in 2020, he co-wrote and co-produced with Peppur Chambers, “Do Something”, a film about social justice, protest, privilege, and power. The film was produced during the 2020 lockdown under strict Covid-19 safety protocols. This is his third successful collaboration with Peppur Chambers. Previously he directed two of her plays, “House Rules” and “Dick & Jayne Get a Life”.

“Matzo Balls and Cornbread”, a book he co-wrote with his wife, Tyree, was published in 2018. The book is a moving and humorous love story about their inter-racial marriage and family is available on Amazon.  In addition to his professional career, Les was a Professor of Theater Arts at Moorpark College from 1977 until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure at the college he directed over 40 theater productions and served as Chairman of the program for over a decade.

Peppur Chambers

writer/director

Peppur is an international writer/producer/educator. She uses her voice to amplify women’s issues, social justice and love.  

Selected for Lower Depth Theatre Ensemble’s “Pandemic Plays”, she sites this experience of writing and presenting “For the Love of You” as one that helped her get through the early wave of the pandemic shock. She is currently working on a commissioned LDTE play that will highlight reparations and the prison system. 

Selected to LA’s Antaeus Theater Company’s Playwrights Lab, Peppur is currently writing a radio play based on white supremacy as her effort to speak up during this current turbulent shift toward equality. She was also commissioned to write a Zip Code Play (Season Two & Three). “End of the Line” about human trafficking is available now on antaeus.org for listening. Season Three debuts later this year; “The Fire In-Between” will be about LA’s 1933 Griffith Park fire. 

A MovingArts MADLab 2021 cohort, Peppur is developing “F/K/A Meridian”, which looks at black women and mental health. Additionally, having been accepted to Circle X Theatre Evolving Playwrights Group, Peppur is working on another new play, a ghost story of sorts based upon unexplained fertility.  

Her Original plays “House Rules”, “The Build UP”, “Dick & Jayne Get a Life” and her one-woman show, “Harlem’s Awakening: Storytelling Live” have been produced in Los Angeles and Prague.

Sabah El-Amin

Sabah El-Amin is an actor and voiceover artist.  She has worked on Showtime’s “Shameless”, NBC’s “Southland” and on the ABC Family TV show “Lincoln Heights”.  She can be heard narrating the audio series “Blackbirds” and worked on spots for LA’s Music Center.  Sabah has performed in numerous stage productions in New York and Los Angeles, and is a graduate of New York University’s, Tisch School of The Arts.  She is also a mother and that is Sabah’s most cherished role to date.

Brent McEwan

as "David"

Brent McEwan began acting in San Francisco during the original run of “Nash Bridges” which makes him seasoned, not old.  His most enjoyable projects have been those where he has collaborated with friends and colleagues whom he’s come to love and respect.  This marks the third and second project he’s worked on with Peppur Chambers and Les Wieder respectively.   

Whether working on stage, television or film, it’s about telling stories and leaving the audience with an emotional or thought-provoking response that feeds his artistic soul.  He is very thankful and proud to be part of “Do Something.”

Candice Callins

Candice Callins is an actress and writer, most known for her role as the “Gamer” on “I Can See Your Voice” on Fox. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and started acting at the age of 7 in theatre. 

After college, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in film. She made a plan and enrolled in cold reading classes to prepare. Her second week in class, she was scouted by a manager who signed her the following week. She realized at that moment this was the career for her and she hasn’t looked back, even when others tried to discourage her. 

Since beginning her film career, she has been on shows such as “My Crazy Ex” on Lifetime and “Buried in the Backyard” on Oxygen, and films, “The Central Authority” and “The Visitor”. 

She’s also using her voice to bring change to Black Lives Matter and how to move past societies standards to become your highest self and practice self-love. 

Lonyé Perrine

Lonyé Perrine is an actress and producer who enjoys playing for a living! She has appeared on shows such as “Criminal Minds”, “Rosewood”, “Castle”, “The First Family”, Disney’s “Coop and Cami”, and her hit web series Funny Married Stuff.  

She has also starred in many of your favorite national commercials such as T-Mobile, Chase, VW, and Hefty to name a few. Lonyé enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and enjoying life! 

Yolanda Snowball

Yolanda is a graduate of Spelman College and has studied at The Neighborhood Playhouse and The American Conservatory Theater. Her theatre credits include work with, The Theatre of Note, The Actor’s Gang, Ensemble Studio Theatre and The Lower Depth Ensemble Theatre. 

Her television credits include: “This is Us”; “NCIS”; “Good Trouble”; “Fresh Off the Boat”; “Parks and Rec”; “American Horror Story”; “Mr. Iglesias”; “Danger Force”; and “I Carley”.

Scott Victor Nelson

as "The Kidnapper"

Scott is an actor and writer. He grew up in Seven Hills, Ohio. He received a BA in Speech Communications from Miami University and then moved to Chicago where he worked with the acclaimed Goodman Theatre and the Tony Award Winning Victory Gardens. Scott is a 2003 alum of the School of Steppenwolf. In Los Angeles,

Scott has appeared as Kip in the world premiere of “Build” at the Geffen Playhouse and Jack in “Complete” at the Matrix. Scott has appeared on “Private Practice”, “The Mentalist” and recurred on NBC’s “Passions”. He has voiced hundreds of radio and television commercials as well as narrated “My Crazy Obsession” MY on TLC. In addition to his work as an actor, Scott is also a voice-actor and producer.

Yumarie Morales

Yumarie Morales is an LA based artist whose work can be seen in television, film, and commercials; but that’s only where the fun begins. Her work in voice over, theatre, and performance art has also been recognized over the years, at the same time, being involved in cultivating many artistic communities. 

Although acting is her career, connecting with people is her true passion. That is why she delves into each project with empathy first, to be able to breathe life into the stories being shared with the world. 

It’s no different with “Do Something”. In this special and timely piece, Yumarie hopes to contribute to the urgent message of Black Lives Matter and amplify the struggle of seeking justice while pushing for social change. During times of civil unrest, we must implore ourselves to DO SOMETHING. 

Richard Warren

as "Officer Andrews'

Mr. Warren is very excited to be appearing in this production of “Do Something”. Among his many other stage performances are the roles of Edna in “Hairspray”, Eddie in “Conversations With My Father”, Doc in “West Side Story” and Mel Tyler/Alien Avenger in “Geeks: The Musical”. 

His feature film and TV credits include “An Angel Named Billy”, “Mother’s Day” and “My Name Is Jack Sparrow”, Rocco in the TV pilot “Dr. Con”, Ron Hunt in “I Almost Accidentally Killed Myself” and Sheriff John Bittick in “Unusual Suspects”. 

He’s also starred in the music videos “Death, Walk and Terror” and “Praying Mantis”. Prior to acting, he devoted 17 years to composing/conducting/orchestrating/arranging the music for such TV series as the original “Dallas” and “Remington Steele”. Visit his new website for additional details.

Ricco Ross

as "Dillon" & Co-Producer

Ricco Ross is a 6’3″ award winning actor/producer, best known for roles in “Aliens”, “Mission Impossible” and “A Husband for Christmas”, to name a few. He has a Master degree from UCLA and is a classical trained Shakespearean actor, having graduated from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He has about 100 credits on IMDB and has made over 70 commercials.

Mr. Ross has the feature called “Night Walk” just released, the series “The Phoenix” coming out later this year and he is currently shooting the second season of the new Starz hit series “P-Valley”. Also, later this year he is booked to shoot the short film “Entanglement”, and the feature “A Man’s Promise”, which is the 2nd of a 3-picture deal Ricco has with PassionFlix. Sam is an award-winning cinematographer and filmmaker with over 10 years of experience working in Film and Television.

Sam’s work has taken him around the world and ranges from documenting circus performers trekking through Nepal, being locked in one of Louisiana’s high security prisons, to following the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.

His work has be seen on networks such as VICE, Discovery, National Geographic, Animal Planet, MTV, and CBS. 

Sam has also been the cinematographer on over 20 narrative films and has won awards in response to his efforts in lighting, camerawork, and his ability to use a positive and productive work ethic in some of the most challenging scenarios. 

Associate Producer & Film Editor

From the dark hallways of Michigan Street Baptist Church in Buffalo, New York to the rugged streets of Newark, New Jersey, the award-winning director, writer and actor Addison Henderson emerged. In 2001, he began formal training as an actor at HB Studios in NYC, where he studied with world-renowned instructors Edward Morehouse, Austin Pendleton and Eleanor Harris.

In 2004 Addison relocated to Los Angeles to intern at Eriq LaSalle’s Humble Journey Films.  In 2012 Addison co-created and directed the acclaimed comedy sketch web-series, The Q&A Show. Through his production company, Night Owl Republic Films, Henderson has written, produced, and directed two feature documentaries, eight short films, and several commercials and cutting edge music videos. In 2020 Addison directed the feature film GOD, GIVERS OF DEATH, an apocalyptic sci-fi tale of redemption.

Addison continues to forge his path ahead by creating artistic and meaningful work for the masses.

Co-Editor and Colorization

Nino Aphakidze is a young filmmaker from the country of Georgia. Her passion and curiosity for cameras and the technical aspects of filmmaking started developing when she was a small girl, mesmerized with the tools used creating and developing a movie. She always knew she wanted to be a part of the behind the camera magic.

Later on, she discovered that her strong passion was rooted in telling stories and the film industry happened to be one of the biggest platforms for storytellers.

This led Nino to Prague where she got her Bachelor’s degree in Creative Media Production.  

After moving to Prague Nino has worked on various position on different film productions both on and off set. She worked as an editor for a TV program at RFE in Prague. Her most recent work includes working on the set of Amazon Prime and Sony Pictures TV series.

User Interface and Motion Graphics

Anna Volodina is an Art Director and Graphic Designer from the country of Georgia. She has shown a true passion for the arts since childhood. She started off as a dancer, which resulted in a successful 11-year career with 9 championship titles including Local and World championships. 

 

With her dancing career behind her, Anna discovered her new passion in design, which resulted in leaving her home country after graduating High School and moving to Prague, where she got an opportunity to study Art and Design. It was in Prague where she received her Higher National Diploma and completed her Bachelor program at Prague College. After finishing her studies, she has shown excellent design skills and an outstanding ability to generate ideas, coming up with concepts, visual communication and art direction. Anna has worked with organizations all around the world as well as numerous small and big companies and brands in Georgia. She is passionate about her work, loves to create, inspire and be inspired by the designs she makes.

Amanda P.H. Bennett (formerly Amanda Peach Hughes) began her sound design education and career back in the Fall of 2013 at Savannah College of Art and Design. Since then, she has sound supervised, edited and designed as well as composed music on over 50 independent projects, several of which have been selected for film festivals Animato, San Diego Comic Con, Seattle International, Discover , NYC Independent, Atlanta Horror and Telluride.

She has also led the sound design for organizations, such as Shriners Hospital for Children, and composed music for an ShortsHD animated film. 

Her excitement in her work is inspired by the impact films and productions can have on people’s lives and how they can be used as a tool to inspire hope and life through them.

Christy Carew is a Canadian-American composer of music for film, TV, advertising, multimedia and the concert world. Ms. Carew was educated at NYU’s Steinhardt School and graduated summa cum laude in 2006 with a Master of Arts in Film scoring/Composition. She also has a Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance and Music Business) from Loyola University New Orleans (2004) and a diploma as composer from the summer program of the European American Musical Alliance, held at L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris (2005).

Christy considers herself first and foremost a storyteller, and feels honored to collaborate with directors on pieces of art that impact, uplift, transport & comfort those who experience them. Her score for the romantic sci-fi short “Virtually” was nominated by the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) for the 2019 Fimucinema Award for Best Original Score (Short Film). Christy’s work on “Virtually” also was honored with the award for Best Score – Short Film at Filmquest, and received the 2019 Certificate of Achievement:

Honorable Mention for Best Original Score at the Independent Shorts Awards. She is also an award winner at the Indie X Film Festival (“Shadow of the Mandalorian”) and recently won BEST SCORE at the 2021 Artemis Women in Action Film Festival (“Boy Eats Girl.”). As a concert composer, Christy was a semi-finalist in 2013 for the Sorel Medallion Choral Composition Contest, and has had her work premiered by the Reno Pops Orchestra. 

Assistant Director

Kameron D. Wood is a father, filmmaker, & friend.   He was born in Buffalo, NY and now lives and works in Los Angeles. Kameron earned his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts Degree in Film Studies, at the State University of New York -Purchase College. 

In 2011, he founded Beyond the Kam Multimedia, a Film Production company and produced, wrote and directed two short films entitled The Wake Up(2011) and Son of a Preacher (2015). Kameron  has worked as a production assistant, Assistant Director and Producer on Independent Feature Films, Independent Short Films, Music Videos, Network shows, TV Pilots, Public Service Announcements, Commercials, and several web series.
